Something is a little fishy

I recently received a large order of all of the new Dylusions stamp and stencil releases. One of my favorite images comes in the set called Fish Face. These stamps, admittedly, are a little out of the norm for me. But I love to try new things and I do love a bold image. What is more bold than Dyan Reaveley? Right? So I am embracing these new stamps and just going for it. I was very excited to start a new journal page with my new goodies.

First, I went back and watched some old Youtube videos of Dyan Reaveley, produced by Ranger Ink, where she gives you some great tips and info on starting colorful backgrounds using her paints and ink spray. I followed her advice and layered a ton of color and pattern using her stencils. Stencils used include: Alphabet Border, Cobwebs large, Cobwebs small,  and DWM Swirling Dashes.

Dylusions paints and ink sprays were used exclusively. Colors include periwinkle blue, mushy peas, and vanilla custard. I really layered the color on this one. These sprays and paints work so wonderfully together and once you play with them a bit you really learn how to add just the right amount of color and texture. If you own dylusions paints and inks, I highly suggest watching the Youtube videos if you haven’t.

I stamped the images and used artist markers to add color to my mermaid. I added a mermaid tail to my cute fish chick from the Plenty of Fish in the Sea stamp set. And just for a little fun and whimsy, I attached her tail with a brad so that her tail moves. Now she awaits the final touches; I will either add some journaling or some stamped sentiment. Perhaps I’ll add something from Fabulous Called collection of stamps. Thanks for checking out my latest art journal page.
