I was playing around with some supplies looking for a little inspiration and this tag was born. It happened rather quickly without much planning. I love when that happens. I loved it so much I decided to share the step by step with you.
First, I applied a thin amount of The Crafter’s Workshop black gesso with a dry brush. I did not want to completely cover the entire tag. I wanted to give the feeling of texture and a distressed look.
Next, I placed my 9×12 n*studio stencil ‘Van Vorst’ on top of my tag and applied Ranger Perfect medium through the stencil. Then I embossed it with Ranger Gunmetal embossing powder.
Next, I repeated that process using a 4×4 inch stencil by n*studio ‘Broadway’. I embossed it with marigold.
This is so gorgeous you could stop now, right? It really is a beautiful tag. However, I wanted to create a mixed media dina-esque tag. So I pulled out my Dina Wakley Media and went to town.
I added some of Dina’s new collage tissue designs, words, and a stamped image from the Weird is Good stamp set. The collage tissues were glued down with matte medium.
I stamped the face onto mixed media paper in black archival ink. I then applied perfect medium onto the crown portion of the stamp and stamped the image again. I then applied gold tinsel embossing powder and heat set it.
I colored the image in with my scribble sticks and a wet paint brush. I then laid my collage words and face image down to find the perfect placement and then glued them down with matte medium.
